Fellows and Other Friends: I am writing to invite you to attend a very special program that Leadership New Jersey is conducting on Infrastructure on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the School of Architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. In cooperation with NJIT, this seminar strives to elevate the level of discussion regarding the investment of infrastructure necessary to meet the needs of the next generation of growth in New Jersey and the region. This special LNJ seminar is being offered to both the current class as well as the over 1,000 graduate fellows who represent the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Fellows from Leadership Newark and Leadership New York are also encouraged to attend this event. The format for this seminar on Infrastructure will follow that of other LNJ seminars, providing leaders with the opportunity to hear from key officials, visit strategic locations, and engage in targeted discussions about the challenges and opportunities we face. Among the topics to be covered include infrastructure related to transportation, water, energy, education, housing, telecommunications, open space and "green infrastructure". Speakers on plenary panels will talk about the broad spectrum of infrastructure, as well as methods of financing long-term investments. One specific panel will give clarity to the term "asset monetization" as well as engage leaders in policy formulation and decision-making related to how we will afford the next generation of growth. The agenda, readings and other information related to this seminar will be accessible on the Web on or before July 15, 2008. Given your position as a leader in New Jersey, and the importance of Newark and the region to the quality of life of our state, your attendance and participation can help us engage all fellows and guests in the hard choices that face us today and in the future. This is an LNJ seminar not to be missed! Last year, we held LNJ's first Infrastructure Seminar and it proved to be a great success. This seminar on Infrastructure will achieve both goals, and could become a standing program given the importance and timeliness of related issues. I am hoping that you will attend this special event. Please complete the registration form and return it with the seminar fee to LNJ as soon as possible. You are encouraged to register for this seminar on-line. Seating is limited, so registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served priority. I hope to see you on July 30th! Sincerely,
