Leadership New Jersey helps leaders in New Jersey become leaders of New Jersey.

LNJ seeks out men and women with successful professional lives who at the same time are engaged in their community as civic leaders. It recognizes them for their accomplishments, informs them about the key issues shaping the future of the state, and challenges them to take on wider responsibilities to make New Jersey a better place in which to live and work. The year-long seminar program is just the beginning of the Leadership New Jersey experience. Fellows remain active in the graduate network and can take part in projects and activities that reflect the goals of the program.

• Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas for the development of public and private partnerships and projects that address economic, social and community problems of New Jersey.
• Examine and analyze issues affecting the well-being of the state, select sharply defined issues for action, and develop proposals for policies or projects that reflect sound economic judgment and enlightened principles.
• Communicate actively its positions and proposals to the public and government and advocate efficient, enlightened, innovative approaches to the resolution of New Jersey issues.
• Encourage appropriate participation in government efforts to meet the needs of New Jersey and its citizens and enhance its quality of life.

Leadership New Jersey begins with an application for selection as a Leadership Fellow. Selection is competitive and applications are due in mid September of each year. Candidates learn the decision of the Selection Committee in mid November, are introduced to the state at a ceremony in early December.  The monthly seminars begin in late January.
